How do I select the correct size of tourniquet for my pediatric patient?
How do I select the correct size of tourniquet for my pediatric patient?
The appropriate tourniquet length should be selected to fit the circumference of the limb that the blood draw is being performed on. To ensure that enough extra material remains to properly tie the tourniquet, select a tourniquet that is at least two inches longer than the limb circumference. Caresfield infant, pediatric, standard, and bariatric tourniquets measure 9", 12", 18", and 32" in length, respectively.
